SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- The Sacramento Kings are poised to make history without even stepping on the court.

ESPN reports the team will sign Sim Bhullar to a 10-day contract this week. The 7-foot-5, 360 pound center would be the first player of Indian descent to play in the NBA.

The 22-year-old spent the entire season with the Reno Bighorns, Sacramento's NBA Development League affiliate. According to ESPN, Bhullar is averaging 10.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.9 blocks in the D-League this season.

Bhullar has a major supporter in Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, who is one of India's most celebrated businessmen.
