This happened at 10 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.

There was so much rain in San Anselmo that downtown had to evacuate because the San Anselmo Creek was rising - it was at 12 feet, 1 foot from jumping its banks.

"It was a very close call. We're all very relieved that the rain stopped just in the nick of time," one resident said.

Video from the Ross Valley Fire Department's web cam shows just how fast the creek rose. First it was calm, and then it was raging water in a matter of hours.

It was only a close call. It spared downtown and residents were allowed back in Thursday night.
