OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The city of Oakland is expected to approve a controversial 24-story building next to the MacArthur BART station.
The project is part of the MacArthur Transit Village.
The city council passed a first reading of the proposal for the mixed-use building earlier this month.

Nearby residents are unhappy with the project because it will be nearly three times taller than other structures in the area, obstructing views and making traffic worse.
The city council meets at 5:30 p.m.
