Roseville Police look to return box of mementos dating back to 1920s

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (KGO) -- Roseville Police would love to get a treasure-trove of family history back to a surviving family member. Officers found a vintage box while cleaning up a homeless camp in Placer County in early December. It's full of mementos dating back to the 1920's.

There are baby announcements, photos, and a number of letters sent from Honolulu and California military bases during World War II.

Frequent names in the letters include Dr. Alstrup Nordahl, James Baldwin Johnson and Hilda Johnson, a nurse.

The city of Roseville posted a photo and message on its Facebook page hoping to spread the word.

The message reads.. "The family had roots in Yreka, California; Roseburg, Oregon; Kelso, Washington; and Longview, Washington. If you're from the Nordahl/Johnson family, please email our Social Services Unit at PoliceSocialServices@roseville.ca.us."
