SAN FRANCISCO -- Firefighters Saturday evening performed a technical rope rescue to rescue a person from a cliff on the coast of San Francisco, fire officials said.

At 6:55 p.m. firefighters said the victim was safe at the top of a cliff near Baker Beach and appeared to be okay.

Fire officials said the victim will be evaluated by paramedics.

Firefighters were challenged by the steepness of the cliff, heavy brush, low lighting and unsteady footing.
