SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The man accused of killing a woman at Pier 14 in San Francisco walked into court Wednesday looking thin and frail.

Francisco Sanchez appeared briefly before a judge for a pre-trial conference. The judge set his next court date for next Tuesday.

Sanchez admitted to killing 30-year-old Kate Steinle in an interview with ABC7 News, but has pleaded not guilty.

Steinle's family testified Tuesday in front of the Senate in Washington D.C., pushing for tougher laws for undocumented immigrants who re-enter the country after deportation.

Sanchez had been deported five times.
