SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has arrested 70-year-old Florencio Hernandez-Palmo for taking pictures and video of a 16-year-old girl on a VTA bus.

The girl rides the bus to school. She told authorities she noticed a man on the bus who always seemed to focus on her. She also said he followed her off the bus once.

The girl reported the man to authorities on Oct. 26 and they began investigating. They say the suspect would discreetly hold his phone and record the girl.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Hernandez-Palmo at a bus stop near Hostetter Road and Flickinger Avenue Friday at 7 a.m.

ABC7 News went to Hernandez-Palmo's home in San Jose.

He was not there, but the homeowners told us he and his wife rent a room from them.

They were shocked to hear he'd been arrested. They told us Hernandez-Palmo and his wife are good, hardworking, church-going people. They hope this is a misunderstanding.

The Sheriff's Office believes Hernandez-Palmo has been photographing girls over a three-year period. They're asking other potential victims to come forward.
