SAN JOSE (KGO) -- The ballots are still being counted two days after the election, and 2,500 votes are all that's separating San Jose City Councilman Sam Liccardo from Santa Clara County Supervisor Dave Cortese in the race to be the next Mayor of San Jose.
Liccardo declared victory Wednesday, but in a news conference late Thursday afternoon Cortese said the election is still up for grabs.
After the news conference, Cortese spoke with several San Jose police officers, telling them that whether he's mayor or remains supervisor, he wants to get them better pay and pensions to stop police from leaving San Jose.
