A man was shot and transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries this afternoon in San Jose, according to police.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A man was shot and transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries this afternoon in San Jose, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 12:52 p.m. in the vicinity of Tully Road and Capitol Expressway, near the Eastridge Mall.

The circumstances and motive remain under investigation, and so far the suspect or suspects remain at large.

Just one lane of southbound Capitol Expressway is open this afternoon while officers at the scene investigating. Drivers in the area are being encouraged to take alternate routes.
