Teens arrested after surveillance video shows flares shot from cars into San Ramon homes

SAN RAMON, Calif. -- Police say four juveniles were arrested in connection with flare gun shootings at no less than seven homes in San Ramon late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Between 10 a.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle, which appears to be an older model Nissan Sentra, fired flares at homes on Yosemite Avenue, Estero Drive, Aptos Drive and Cree Court.

Sean Weaver wasn't at his Estero Drive home Saturday night but saw the damage to the front porch the next day. Scorch marks are still visible on the porch where the gauge flare landed. "It kind of concerned us because that's attempted arson if something caught fire," said Weaver. His home surveillance system captured the loud flash as well as the fleeing vehicle.

Police thanked citizens who have registered their home security cameras with the "Citizen's View Camera Registry Program," which they credited with helping find the suspects.
