SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The ocean is changing and the sea lion is having trouble changing with it.

The California sea lion is now getting help from the state capitol. The influx of sick animals has required an influx of money from the state. A hearing was underway Wednesday in Sacramento on how that money's being spent and how things look for the species going forward.

The Marine Mammal Center was one of several rescuers to get a piece of a $1 million grant. They attended the hearing to thank state officials.
