He has been identified as Naren Prabhu. He worked for Juniper Networks. The company released a statement that reads, in part: Juniper Networks is deeply saddened by the recent loss of a long-time employee. We are focused on supporting our employees and their families through this difficult time.

"We heard a series of pops, thinking it was firecrackers or some other type of noise," said Willow Glen resident Holly Troche. "We didn't think too much of it until the police showed up."
Police have not identified the shooter. They say he took the couple's 13-year-old son hostage for a short time before letting him go.

Ultimately, the 24-year-old pointed a gun at police and was shot and killed by an officer.

"He didn't give this family choices," said San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia. "He didn't give my officer a choice and it's just a tragic, tragic incident perpetrated by evil."

ABC7 News has learned the Prabhus were members of the Holy Spirit Parish. The church sent an email to its parishioners acknowledging the tragedy and offering counseling for anyone who needs it.

Police say the couple's daughter was not at the house at the time of the shootings and that she had a restraining order against her ex.

They say he had a history of domestic violence and drunk driving.
