Scammers target gift cards using hand-held devices

For people looking gift cards while shopping, buyer beware. Scammers are now using hand-held devices to copy the number off the back of the card so they can steal its value later.

Experts say customers should always look to see if the packaging has been tampered with.

They also say to register the card as soon as possible and avoid buying them from display stands that anyone can access.
