SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Target wants you back this holiday season, so much so, that it's offering free money in the form of discounted gift cards.

Target says it will offer gift cards for 10 percent off this Black Friday.

It's an unprecedented move from the retailer that was hit by a massive data breach last holiday season.

The big box retailer is still feeling the effects with sales and foot traffic down.

"These days, it is really a race to get customers in your doors, so they really need to find ways to make them stand out. The data breach really hit target hard last holiday season so this year they are doing all they can to win back their customers," said Julie Zeveloff, a deputy editor at Business Insider.

Retailers across the country are hoping they're on your Christmas wish list. Each American shopper is expected to spend $804 this holiday season.
