CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (KGO) -- An 8-year-old boy with leukemia whom ABC7 News introduced last week is on the road to recovery.

Austin's mother sent a photo of him recovering in the hospital after a bone marrow transplant on Monday.

She says it was initially a rough few days but he's doing well now.

Austin created a lion, named Simba, out of gauze and tape. He hopes to eventually paint it.
