Great America's Winterfest welcomes Boys and Girls Clubs with snow, cheer
Winterfest at California's Great America in Santa Clara, was a winter wonderland for some special, young guests Thursday night.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- Winterfest at California's Great America, was a winter wonderland for some special, young guests Thursday night.

The theme park hosted 400 kids from Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley, giving them a chance to enjoy all the thrills of an amusement park at the holidays.

The park is aglow with seven million lights and decorated with 350 trees.

The main tree, which was lit by Youths of the Year, is 60 feet tall.

There's also the occasional snow flurry!

Sixteen-year-old Destiny Perez said it was her first time at Winterfest and she was honored and excited to light the Christmas tree.

She said the Boys and Girls Club has given her so much, that it now feels wonderful to give back to the younger kids as a junior staff member.
