Man finds, returns bottle adrift at sea for 50 years containing message
A note adrift at sea for some 50 years is finally where it belongs.

A note adrift at sea for some 50 years is finally where it belongs.

Clint Buffington traveled from his Utah home to New Hampshire to present Paula Pierce with a faded ink-stained piece of paper. On it, was message written by her father.

Buffington found the message in a bottle on a beach in the Caribbean. It was in such poor shape, he wanted to deliver it personally.

Pierce says it's incredible. "He wrote this. His hands were on this. He's been gone 26 years and he put this in a bottle and it survived," she said.

The message read "return to 419 Ocean Boulevard and receive a reward from Tina, owner of the Beachcomber."

The Beachcomber is the hotel Pierce's mom and dad owned. Tina was her mom.

In return for delivering the message, Pierce kept her dad's promise, and happily gave Buffington a check for $150.
