Oakland makes 'coolest' small, medium city list

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Oakland has made the list of the "coolest" small and medium size cities to visit on Expedia's website.

Oakland ranked 15th out of 21 cities across the U.S.

Among the qualifying criteria are interesting festivals, a thriving art scene, young demographics and a hunger for hipper things in life from foodie districts to contemporary galleries.

Austin, Texas, topped the list, followed by Madison, Wisconsin.
