Kate Middleton promotes children's mental health in first public engagement since Charlotte's birth

Kate is back in action and back in style.

The Duchess of Cambridge returned to work Thursday in her first official royal engagement since her daughter Charlotte was born on May 2. Sporting bangs and a sophisticated dress, she visited The Anna Freud Centre in London, which is devoted to children's mental health.

As part of the appearance, the duchess experienced the center's interactive learning technology, viewed its plans for the future and played games with some of the families.

Kate is a vocal advocate of children's mental health. She spoke of its importance during Britain's first Children's Mental Health Week back in February.

"The stigma around mental health means that many children do not get the help that they so badly need. This needs to change," she said "No one would feel embarrassed about seeking help for a child if they broke their arm."

Kate spent her summer with her family in their country home, ABC News reports. Her next public engagement will be at the Rugby World Cup Friday night with her husband, Prince William, and brother-in-law, Prince Harry.
