SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- If you have an overdue library book, you can help feed the hungry this holiday season.

The San Mateo County's library system has a "Food for Fines" program in which residents can bring in a box or can of non-perishable food and they'll waive the fine.

The food will go to Second Harvest Food Bank from now through the end of the year.

This month, ABC7 and our parent company Disney are giving $75,000 to local Feeding America food banks. But they still need more help! Research shows 1 in 6 people in the Bay Area go hungry every month. You can help by making a $10 donation, just by texting the word FEED to 80077.
