Sacred Heart Community Service in need of donations
Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose is asking for donations during this holiday season.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A South Bay holiday donation program is short of toys for teenagers.

Hundreds of volunteers were hard at work in San Jose on Saturday getting toys ready for kids.

Sacred Heart Community Service has already distributed ingredients for holiday meals to 3,200 families.

Though they received more than 1,000 toys on Saturday, their toy program is still short by more than 4,200. According to Community Engagement Director Graciela, they especially need toys for teenage boys. Some of the items needed include sports equipment, gift cards, watches, wallets, perfumes, gift sets, and shavers.

"The hardest category for us to fill is for our teen children," said Chad Harris with Sacred Heart. "So 13 to 17. So that's really where we need the most help from the community, bringing items in that would be appropriate for teenage kids."

Sacred Heart will give away almost 17,000 toys on Monday and Tuesday.

If you'd like to help, you can drop off a toy at Sacred Heart on South 1st Street in San Jose starting Monday. Or click here to make a donation online.
