Wells Fargo customers raise $300,000 for Calif. wildfire victims
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Victims of some of the recent wildfires that devastated Northern California communities are getting some much needed financial help from Wells Fargo customers.
An oversized $300,000 check was donated by the bank to the American Red Cross. It's intended for wildfire relief. The bank says the money came straight out of the pockets of generous Wells Fargo customers. In fact, those customers donated so much, they set a company record.
"In just a three week period, this California, on the Valley and Butte fires set a brand new record. That California raised $300,000 additional dollars towards the fire," Wells Fargo regional president Greg Morgan said.
The money is in addition to the $100,000 already donated by Wells Fargo to the American Red Cross to help fire victims.
