Officials: Woman shot by deputies after wild chase in Sonoma County
Officials say a woman was shot by deputies after a wild chase in Sonoma County on Wednesday night.

SEBASTOPOL, Calif. (KGO) -- An investigation is underway into an officer-involved shooting in Sebastopol. Deputies say a suspect led them on a high-speed chase and rammed three officers with a vehicle.

A call came into 911 at 11:46 p.m. Thursday regarding a vehicle driving southbound on Highway 101 backwards in the northbound lanes near Windsor. The car then made a u-turn and exited the freeway in Windsor.

At 11:51, a deputy spotted the vehicle driving recklessly and attempted to stop it on Old Redwood Highway near Starr Road in Windsor. Deputies said the vehicle failed to stop and sped away at a high rate of speed southbound on Highway 101. The deputy pursued the vehicle south on Highway 101 until the suspect turned west onto Todd Road. The suspect turned north onto Old Graventstein Highway and subsequently stopped in the parking lot of 2661 Old Gravenstein Highway.

Deputies said they approached the suspect vehicle and it accelerated in reverse striking three deputies and a patrol vehicle parked behind it. Multiple deputies responded by firing several rounds into the suspect vehicle striking the suspect an undetermined number of times.

The suspect was transported to the hospital. One deputy was treated and released from a local hospital and two other deputies received minor injuries.

The Santa Rosa Police Department's Violent Crimes Investigations Unit is conducting the investigation in this incident.
