The U.S. Geological Survey reports a magnitude 4.7 earthquake hit about 14 miles northeast of Gonzales, which is south of Salinas.

GONZALES, Calif. (KGO) -- The U.S. Geological Survey reports a magnitude 4.7 earthquake hit about 14 miles northeast of Monterey County's Gonzales, which is south of Salinas.

The quake struck at about 11:31 a.m. and was reportedly felt in the South Bay as well as other parts of the Bay Area.
