SAN FRANCISCO -- Oakland Athletics outfielder Billy Burns left Friday night's game against the San Francisco Giants after the third inning with a testicular contusion, the result of fouling off a ball during his at-bat in the top of the inning.

Burns took several minutes to gather himself following the incident and finished the at-bat. He recorded an RBI groundout.

Mark Canha went into the game to play left field, and Sam Fuld moved to center field.

Burns leads all rookies in hits (92), stolen bases (20) and multiple-hit games (29).
