STANFORD, Calif. --Cardinalsophomore guard Robert Cartwright suffered a compound fracture in his forearm during a routine drill Monday and will be lost for the season.

Expected to be Stanford's starting point guard, Cartwright underwent surgery Wednesday.

He is the latest casualty for the Cardinal, who are likely to start the season without guards Marcus Allen and Malcolm Allen and center Grant Verhoeven.

Cartwright played in all but one game last season, averaging 1.9 points and 0.9 rebounds. He is replacing Chasson Randle, who set a school record for 3-pointers last season in helping Stanford win the NIT title.
