MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Team Penske has signed Joey Logano to a contract extension after the best season of his career.

The team announced the multiyear deal Thursday for the Chase for the Sprint Cup contender. He'll remain behind the wheel of the No. 22 Ford in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and No. 22 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

The seven-year NASCAR veteran joined Team Penske at the start of the 2013 season. He has four Sprint Cup wins this season -- at Texas Motor Speedway, Richmond International Raceway, Bristol Motor Speedway and last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Roger Penske says the 24-year-old Logano has been "everything we hoped he would be, both as a driver and as a representative of our organization."

Logano and teammate Brad Keselowski, who won the Chase opener at Chicagoland, have both advanced to the next round. Four drivers will be eliminated after every third race, and a win guarantees a driver an automatic berth into the next round. The first cutoff race is next week at Dover International Speedway.

Team Penske will be playing with house money at the Monster Mile this weekend. Penske's crew is rolling, winning four of the last five races dating to Bristol, and snagging the early lead on the scorecard against Hendrick Motorsports.

"Confidence is high through the 22 team right now, all of Team Penske," Logano said. "All of Team Penske. We feel like we've got some championships to win, not only on the Cup side, but Nationwide side. And you've got IndyCar. We're just trying to catch up to them."
