HARBOR CITY, Calif. (KGO) -- There is justice for a high school girls basketball team in Southern California.

On Tuesday, an appeals panel reversed its previous decision that stripped the Narbonne High School girls' basketball team of a playoff victory last Saturday for wearing jersey's with pink letters and numbers in honor of breast cancer awareness.

California Interscholastic Federation rules prohibit teams from wearing any unofficial school color without permission.

Narbonne players couldn't believe it. "The punishment didn't fit the crime. We felt like we really didn't know, we had no idea and if we had some type of warning, we would have never came on the court with those uniforms," Laticia Smith said.

The reversal means the girls will be able to play in the section finals on Saturday, but they'll be doing it without their coach, who was suspended for the Jersey infraction.
