Pope Francis meets with NFL legend Ronnie Lott at the Vatican

VATICAN CITY (KGO) -- Pope Francis met with several NFL legends today, including 49ers and Raiders Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott.

Lott and his fellow Pro Football Hall of Famers wore their gold jackets for the meeting with Francis at the Vatican. The pope praised his visitors for their work in bringing people together through football and promoting sportsmanship.

Francis also admitted to being an avid football fan -- then he clarified that's the game Americans call soccer.
