San Jose Sharks fans across the country are ready for Game 1
The San Jose Sharks take the ice in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time on Monday in their 25 seasons. They face the Pittsburgh Penguins.

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- The San Jose Sharks take the ice in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time on Monday in their 25 seasons. They face the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game 1 is being played at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Hockey fans call the Stanley Cup the most difficult trophy to win in all of sports. Each team has to win four, four-game series to get to the Stanley Cup. So, fans on both sides are excited to be here.

Meanwhile, Sharks fans of all ages came out the Shark Tank, or more formally known as the SAP Center, to be part of hockey history as the Sharks play in their first Stanley Cup Final.

The pregame festivities began at 2 p.m. at Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Close to 1,000 people came out to show their support for their team. ABC7 News reporter David Louie was on hand to capture the spirit and confidence of the fans ahead of Game 1. Watch his story above.
