Lunger played for the Tri-Valley A's, part of a men's league in the East Bay.
ABC7 News was in Livermore at Granada High School as teammates paid tribute to him. Lunger's jersey was hung at the dugout and his glove and hat were placed on first base, the position he played.
"He was always dedicated, he loved the camaraderie," said Tri-Valley A's manager Tony Jackson Sr.. "He loved being out here on Sundays and at times on Saturdays as well."

Jackson said the team could have forfeited Sunday's game but they didn't because Lunger would have wanted them to play.
The veteran sergeant will be laid to rest with full honors this Thursday. And because so many people are expected to attend, his funeral will be held at Oracle Arena in Oakland. It's scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will be open to the public.
