The Golden State Warriors made history this year with a 73-win regular season and the league's first unanimous MVP in Stephen Curry. They rolled to a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals and looked primed for a repeat ... but then LeBron James happened.

The King went off over the next three games and scored an incredible 109 points to help Cleveland become the first team to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the Finals.

Although the Warriors' unprecedented run put them in rarefied air, it doesn't mean a thing without a ring.

Is Golden State's postseason exit the biggest disappointment in recent sports history? You be the judge.

The Patriots were the only other team on the list to reach the title game, and their fans might be the only ones to truly understand the sting being felt in the Bay Area. New England went on to reach two more Super Bowls and won one, so let's see what Golden State does for an encore.
