Afghan interpreter living in Bay Area to attend State of the Union

WASHINGTON (KGO) -- A former Afghan interpreter who lives in the Bay Area will be at Tuesday night's State of the Union address. Mohammad Usafi served alongside U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

California Representative Eric Swalwell, D-Dublin, invited Usafi as his guest to bring attention to problems with the U.S. visa program.

His father was killed and his brother taken for ransom because of his job. It took 3.5 years to get them safely to America.

Soon, they'll all be living in Fremont.
