LOS ANGELES (KGO) -- A new telescope from the National Science Foundation will be the largest digital camera in the world and could help solve some of the mysteries of the universe.

Tech website Engadget reports the 3,200 megapixel camera will be able to scan the entire night sky and help scientists see areas they haven't seen before.

Construction on it begins next week.

Once its operational access won't be limited to astrophysicists. Casual astronomers will be able to see the data the telescope is expected to produce every night.
