San Jose police investigate fatal pedestrian accident

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The San Jose Police Department is investigating a fatal accident in which a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The accident occurred at the northbound Monterey Road on-ramp to eastbound Capitol Expressway just after 5:45 a.m. in San Jose.

They concluded that an unidentified adult male was walking across the roadway (on-ramp) when he was struck by a grey Ford Focus.

The driver of the Focus is cooperating with investigators. The male was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

The identity of the victim will not be released until the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office has confirmed the victim's identity and notified next of kin.

This is San Jose's 42nd collision and 46th victim of 2015.

All lanes of traffic are now open. No other information is available at this time.
