PACHECO, Calif. (KGO) -- Three children and an adult were injured in a collision with a car Monday morning in Pacheco.

A report of the collision came in at 7:08 a.m. near Second Avenue and Shadowood Drive, CHP officials said.

A silver Ford Focus was going east at about 15 mph on Second Avenue when the driver turned on the car's windshield wipers, according to the CHP.

The driver was trying to clear dew from the car's windshield when the collision occurred, CHP officials said.

Two girls, 3 and 5, were taken by helicopter to University of California at San Francisco Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Another child and adult went to a separate hospital for treatment, according to the CHP.

The Ford's driver stopped and cooperated with officers, CHP officials said.

Residents rushed outside after hearing the crash.

"A kid was lying facedown motionless. It was scary. There was a lot of blood," said Shankar Krishan, who lives nearby. He was asked to translate for the injured mother.

Neighbors say speed is an issue in the area, but so is the sun, which makes vision difficult int he morning.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the CHP at (925)978-3918.

Meanwhile, CHP is using this event on their Facebook page to remind drivers of the safety of driving.
