OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Some BART riders in the East Bay can expect to pay a new fee starting Monday.

It will cost $1 a day to park at the Coliseum Oakland Airport BART Station.

Hayward will be the only station where parking is still free, but that will change when $1 fee goes into effect in December.

BART officials say they have to charge in order to cover expenses for roughly 400,000 riders a day.

To pay the fees, drivers must sign up in advance at BART's web page to link their Clipper card to BART's parking payment program.
