PG&E caps gas main leak in San Jose caused by car accident

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- PG&E crews have put a temporary plug on a gas main leak in San Jose. Northbound traffic has been reopened on San Felipe Road.

Firefighters have ordered a tow truck to take away the car that was involved in an accident that triggered the gas leak.

The accident prompted street closures at the intersection of San Felipe Road and Meadowlands Lane.

The break was first reported to fire officials at 3:42 p.m. The first call to PG&E officials came in at 3:52 p.m.

A vehicle hit a set of poles which bent and caused the break near Silver Oak Elementary School.

There were no evacuations reported.
