WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) -- If you take BART, keep your phone hidden. Thieves are stealing phones right out of riders' hands.

Thirteen thefts have occurred in just two weeks, according to the Bay Area News Group. They say this is happening in Oakland and San Francisco.

In a couple of cases, the victims were on the platform but in 10 cases, they were on the train. They say the thief quickly ran onto the platform with the phone.

Passengers say this is alarming but one man says he keeps his phone in his pocket so no one can grab it.
