SF streets reopen after Super Bowl closure
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It was a site many in San Francisco haven't seen in about three week: cars, buses and trolleys driving southbound on The Embarcadero and on Market Street.
The closures and detours were lifted Thursday night, making the Friday morning commute the first time the roads were back to normal around what was once Super Bowl City.
Even though the Super Bowl was last Sunday, it took all this week to tear down the stages and exhibits, leaving the streets closed and commuters frustrated.
"The taxis as well as the Uber cars were not allowed to pick up in front of the Ferry Building and it made it really difficult to get through," said Azalia Dorner, Vallejo resident.
The streets were scheduled to reopen on Friday, so the earlier than expected opening was welcomed by happy commuters.
"It's a relief, an absolute relief, to be able to grab my usual F car and get to work," said Dormer.
"I was working at night and it was terrible. Now, I can go through, " said San Leandro resident, Andy Bustamantel. "It's beautiful."
