SMART considering ban on talking on cellphones on new trains
Transit officials for the SMART train have a new proposal that's shocking many people in this day and age.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- Transit officials for the SMART train have a new proposal that's shocking many people in this day and age.

They want an outright ban on talking on your cellphone on the new trains.

Commuters are very opinionated about this idea.

"No, I don't like the idea. I understand people don't want to listen to other people's conversations, etc, etc however...public transportation," commuter Christine Leland said.

"It's probably a good idea. I found out way too many pieces of personal information from other people's lives listening to their conversations. I don't need all that information," commuter Sherie Paton said.

The proposal is to ban cellphone use on the new train that's going to run from Santa Rosa to San Rafael, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

It's believed that it would be the first of its kind in the United States.

The officials who like the idea say, "Wouldn't it be nice to have a 20-minute ride that is quiet and you don't have to hear someone screaming into their cellphone next to you?"

This is just a proposal. The train service is set to start in December.
