UPS freight truck accident blocks I-580 onramp in Pleasanton
A UPS freight truck has crashed onto its side at the Hacienda on ramp to eastbound I-580 in Pleasanton.

PLEASANTON, Calif (KGO) -- A UPS freight truck has been cleared from the Hacienda onramp to eastbound I-580 in Pleasanton after it crashed onto its side.

"He was eating some food and said he was having some problems eating the food and it caused him to drift off the right shoulder. Hit a light pole, the light pole fell into the roadway on the ramp from Hacienda on ramp to eastbound 580 and then his truck subsequently rolled on to its side," said CHP officer Eric Aguilar.

The driver said he may have lost consciousness from the food incident, but he was able to crawl out of the truck and was not injured. Shortly after all that, another driver hit the pole that was across the on ramp and popped a tire. She had to have her vehicle towed away. But that pole is now off to the side.

The scene is now clear.
