VALLEJO, Calif. -- Vallejo police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who drove a vehicle at an officer Saturday.

At about 7:30 p.m. police received a report of a fight between two men at the Motel 6 at 1455 Enterprise St., police said.

When officers arrived, police said one of the men was exiting a second story room where he allegedly had a gun.

Police called out to the man from the parking lot, but he ignored them, police said.

Officers followed him as he walked along the second story balcony and the man jumped from the balcony and nearly landed on an officer, police said.

The officer tried to detain the suspect, but he escaped and ran to a KIA dealership at 4325 Sonoma Blvd. There the man surprised a person and stole their vehicle.

That's when the suspect drove at an officer and the officer shot at the man, police said.

The suspect crashed the vehicle through a locked security gate at the dealership and drove off. A witness tipped off police that a man carrying a gun was running from an area near the intersection of Sacramento and Redwood streets, police said.

Police found the stolen vehicle at that location.

Police conducted a search of the area, but did not find the man. No officers were injured in the incident, police said.
