Bay Area residents head to the beach during heat wave

Expect hot weather across the Bay Area this weekend and into the work week. In Santa Cruz, temperatures are expected to reach the low 80's.

But if you're planning to surf be aware that lots of other people may have the same idea.

Leave early if you're looking to beat the heat and the traffic.

Also be sure to drive carefully. Highway 17 has seen an increase in accidents so far this year -- many due to speed.
