Cleanup underway after Hurricane Odile hits Baja Peninsula

Cleanup is now underway in Cabo San Lucas, following the strongest hurricane on record to hit the Baja Peninsula.

Hurricane Odile slammed into Cabo with 125 mile per hour winds and heavy rain.

Authorities set up emergency shelters to hold up to 30,000 people, many of them American tourists.

Christina and Nate McFadden of San Francisco took shelter in their hotel bathroom.

"I thought, is part of the building falling off? The vibration was really intense on the building. It felt like earthquakes," Christina McFadden said.

"Right before the window blew, we could feel the air pressure change, and we knew something was going to happen," Nate McFadden said.

Flights in and out of Los Cabos have resumed after the airport was shut down for hours.

The first flight back to the Bay Area was expected Monday night.
