LOS ANGELES (KGO) -- The next time you see lightning in the Bay Area, you may want to reach for someone's hand - it could save your life!

Two Southern California teens say it happened to them. Dylan and Lexie were walking hand-in-hand down a street near Los Angeles on Thursday night, when they were struck by lightning.

Their doctor says holding hands helped diffuse the electrical current that ran through their bodies and probably spared their lives.

Both teens now joke they have an "electric love."
