North Bay rain makes roads slippery for drivers

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KGO) -- Showers hit the North Bay Tuesday morning making it a tough drive for some commuters.

"I commute from Cloverdale, so it's kind of like driving through a car wash," said Brandy Kutz.

"I definitely want to stay home with some hot chocolate and movie. It seems like a good day to do that!" said Mike O'Daniel, who lives in Rohnert Park.

The CHP has no reports of any major incidents and PG&E isn't reporting any outages. However, the 4900 block of Dry Creek Road in unincorporated Napa is closed due to a downed tree with power lines, Napa County Public Works officials

said. Commuters are advised to use Oakville Grade or Orchard Avenue to state Highway 29.

Another storm is due to arrive in the Bay Area on Thursday and possibly over the weekend, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officials said.

Rain is expected to develop Thursday through Friday morning and will probably impact the Thursday afternoon commute.

The rain may be heavy on Thursday evening over the Loma and Soberanes burn scars. There may be as much as one to four inches of rain over the highest peaks, NOAA officials said.

Residents with property in the burn scar areas should protect themselves against potential debris flows or flash floods.

South winds reaching 15 to 24 mph with gusts up to 35 mph may be possible from Thursday to early Friday, NOAA officials said.
