Storm triggers traffic hazards in Bay Area
HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (KGO) -- A series of storms have caused traffic issues around the Bay Area. The storms wreaked havoc over the weekend, triggering widespread power outages and flash flood warnings.
In San Jose, the CHP did a hard shut down of the Alameda off-ramp from I-880 just after 1:30 a.m. Orange cones were placed to mark the flooded area. The standing water, which was about a foot deep, was being pumped out by trucks. The offramp was reopened after 6:30 a.m.
One of the biggest trouble spots has been Hwy 92 in Half Moon Bay where trees blocked lanes overnight. The highway was reopened at 5:45 a.m.

In San Francisco, southbound lanes of the Great Highway along Ocean Beach are closed due to flooding. The road which serves as a bridge between the Richmond and Sunset Districts has been closed since Saturday night. There is no estimated time when it will reopen.

Residents in Belmont saw some flooding from all the rain. A homeowner on Pullman Avenue called the fire department when he realized the water was not draining properly. Turns out, it was flowing underneath his house, something he's never seen happen in his 20 years of living there.
"We came home after shopping at the grocery store. And heard a river flowing behind our house and just peeked over and that's what we saw," said Jeff Burgos, Belmont resident.
The public works department was called to the scene. The homeowner says a clogged drain caused the flooding.

In Pacifica, the tides and swells from these storms have pushed back the demolition of an apartment building teetering on the edge of a cliff.
The building located at 320 Esplanade is red-tagged and will be torn down tomorrow instead of today. Strong winds knocked down a chain link fence and blew down utility lines over the weekend, cutting power to several residents.
