Snow in San Jose
The Bay Area saw rain, hail, thunder and lightning Saturday.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose experienced some dramatic weather Saturday, including some hail that looked like snow!

There wasn't enough to break out the sled or skis, but if you check Twitter, you'll certainly see some small snowmen.

The heavy hail took many in the Meadowlands neighborhood by surprise.

The hail bounced down and blanketed cars and rooftops and filled in all the gaps in the grass.

We spoke to one couple who has lived in San Jose for 25 years. They say this is the first time in 20 years that they've seen a slushy combination of snow and hail like this.

"This is big. I like this. It's really nice. I thought I had to go all the way to Lake Tahoe to see snow," said Charlie Galaviz of San Jose.

The hail is giving the grass a good drenching and leading to plenty of runoff.

Charlie and his wife say they're just hoping the snow will stick around long enough for their grandchildren to come over and enjoy it.
