Woman fatally shot while driving car near Vallejo

VALLEJO, Calif. (KGO) -- A woman died after being shot while driving a car just outside Vallejo.

The sheriff's office received a call shortly after 7 a.m. about multiple shots fired in the 300 block of Benicia Road near Sperry Avenue, Deputy Christine Castillo said.

The victim's car crashed after she was shot.

Solano County Sheriff's investigators are trying to figure out what led to the shooting.

They've spent hours searching for witnesses and any useful surveillance cameras.

The coroner is working to identify the victim.

More information about the incident is being withheld until the victim's next of kin are notified of the death, Castillo said.
